How does satellite internet work?
WANsat’s satellite internet is a data communication network, which transmits the signal from your home, through a small satellite dish, similar to the traditional antenna of pay-tv services. It is installed at your home or business, along with a modem, which communicates with a satellite.
The satellite receives data from your home and sends it to the internet, making it possible for you to browse at high speed, without the need for cables or fiber optics. This makes satellite internet widely used in rural and difficult-to-access areas.
Another important item in this process is the router, which transforms the received internet signal to communicate with your devices (computers, cell phones, tablets, and televisions) via Wi-Fi.
-
Is satellite internet slow?
No. The new generations of satellites allow speeds in excess of 100 Mbps, that is, it is classified as broadband internet.
The experience of internet via satellite is similar or superior when compared to internet via telephone cable (DSL), or even 3G/4G mobile internet. This means that the speed is more stable, it has higher quality, and it is very easy to install and use.
